For Japan-made guitars and basses purchased through S Gear Studio, arrange an assessment with BlackPX Workshop in Tokyo before shipping. From tone to feel, we confirm a written plan around the instrument and your playing goals.
Entering the workflow does not mean every requested job has been accepted. BlackPX Workshop assesses the model, actual condition, your goal, parts compatibility and whether the work is advisable.

WORKSHOP APPROACH
Understand before changing
BlackPX Workshop puts the customer's goal ahead of a technician's preference. It can suggest a direction when the goal is unclear, without pushing unnecessary work to demonstrate technique.
WHOLE-INSTRUMENT VIEW
Whole-instrument balance before part swapping
Electronics, resonance, structure, hardware and setup are considered together. Flagship instruments are usually designed as a balance, so woodwork-heavy alterations are approached conservatively when that balance cannot be protected.
ORIGINALITY & REVERSIBILITY
Reversibility and originality first
For used, vintage or collectible instruments, the preference is to minimise changes to the original state, preserve reversible paths and return removed original parts with the instrument.
Training
Graduate of ESP Entertainment Tokyo's three-year guitar-making programme and advanced course
Relevant experience
Formerly with Onkyo Shokai Co., Ltd.; long-term work in electronics, pickups and whole-instrument setup
FIVE PRIORITY SERVICES
The details that shape your playing
From electronics and pickups to nuts, frets and full setup, these five services address the key elements of tone, stability and playability. We assess the instrument's actual condition and your playing goals before providing a clear written plan.
Same-size replacement, fault repair and hand rewinding; size changes or woodwork require inspection first.
03
Nut making and adjustment
Nut slot work, playability correction, fabrication and setup after string-gauge or tuning changes.
04
Refretting and fret levelling
Polishing, edge treatment, levelling, local correction and refretting, with case-by-case review for hollow builds or special finishes.
05
Complete setup
Neck relief, action, intonation, pickup balance, tremolo setup, cleaning and final functional checks.
THREE TECHNICAL LINES
The instrument as a whole
Tone, resonance and feel are not isolated jobs. One change can affect the whole instrument, so they are assessed together.
01
Tone and electronics optimisation
Pickup, circuit, output-balance and noise behaviour are considered together to identify the cause behind a symptom.
02
Resonance-system optimisation
Structure, hardware, string gauge and setup are evaluated as one balance rather than treating a part change as the whole answer.
03
Playability refinement
The player's problem and goal come first, followed by coordinated work across action, neck, frets, nut and tremolo.
